Fake currency notes act as oxygen to terrorism: Rajnath Singh

"Some people say that the National Investigation Agency has partially succeeded in stopping foreign terror funding. The NIA is playing an effective role in curbing the flow of FICN and terror funding", Singh wrote on Twitter.

Inaugurating the new Headquarters Office Complex of the NIA here today, Shri Rajnath Singh said the NIA is on course to check the threat posed by terrorism.

Indian soldiers along the Indo-Pakistan border have been gunning down at least five-six terrorists every day, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Sunday. He also termed terrorism as a "curse" that no civilised country can accept. He commended the NIA, other Security Agencies, the Army, CAPFs and ATS of State Police Forces for coordinated efforts resulting in the elimination of a good number of terrorists.

Of the total 166 cases, the NIA is investigating 41 cases of terror financing and fake currency. The NDA Government had brought the global community on-board in the fight against worldwide terrorism, he said. He said the NDA government had taken steps to highlight the scourge of terrorism in global forums and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had succeeded in bringing the worldwide community on board on the issue.

Speaking at the inauguration, Rajnath Singh praised the agency, saying it has established its credibility and impartiality in last eight years. The minister said terrorism was a hurdle to development and the NDA government has been taking strong action against the menace.

"Fake currency contributes to the rise of terrorism and high quality fake currency notes act as oxygen to terrorism", he said.
