Browns Name Kevin Hogan Starting Quarterback

Browns' Kevin Hogan named starting quarterback for Sunday's game

Rookie DeShone Kizer has been replaced as Cleveland's quarterback by backup Kevin Hogan, who will be the 28th different starter for the Browns since 1999.

Kizer, 21, has an NFL-worst 49.5 quarterback rating with three touchdowns and nine interceptions this season.

"This does not change the way we feel about DeShone going forward", Jackson said in the statement. He has worked extremely hard and still very much has a bright future.

The Cleveland Browns have decided to make a change at quarterback in the wake of some of the struggles that rookie DeShone Kizer has had in the early part of the season. "Right now, it's better for him and his development to back up Kevin".

A sixth-round pick of the Chiefs past year, Hogan was poached off Kansas City's practice squad at the start of the 2016 regular season. But Kizer doesn't plan on standing for Jackson's decision for long. Hogan will start this week at Houston. "I'm a competitor. I want to be out there playing". "I don't play this game to sit on the bench". He looked pretty good last week, though, completing 16 of 19 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns along with 30 rushing yards. Through three games this season, he is 26-of-38 with 377 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

The Browns hope the time on the sidelines will help Kizer regenerate himself.

Hogan, a fifth-round pick of Kansas City in 2016 out of Stanford, was signed to the Browns' practice squad when the Chiefs released him after the 2016 preseason.
