Trump's broadside follows a rare statement issued by Kim, branding the USA president as "deranged" and warning he will "pay dearly" for his threat to "totally destroy" the North if it attacks. Experts say this is the first time a North Korean leader has made a direct address to an worldwide audience - and it merits serious and thorough consideration.

Kim Dong-yub, a former South Korean military official who is now an analyst at Seoul's Institute for Far Eastern Studies, said Kim Jong Un's statement indicated that North Korea will respond to Trump with its most aggressive missile test yet.

"In case innocent lives of the USA are lost because of this suicide attack, Trump will be held totally responsible".

"Whether you like him or not, Trump is your president & Kim Jong Un is a dictator & a murderer".

Responding to US President Donald Trump's bellicose warning to Pyongyang in his first speech to the United Nations on Tuesday, Kim on Friday called Trump a "dotard" - at least in a translation by the state news agency KCNA.

In his statement, Kim said he "will consider with seriousness exercising of a corresponding, highest level of hard-line countermeasure in history".

"Colbert was responding on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" to Kim compared Trump's United Nations speech to "the sound of a dog barking", in which the comedian said "Pretty sick burn on our president to which I have to say knock it off, North Korea".

Yong Ho, during a visit to NY for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), asserted that the recent economic sanctioned imposed by the UN and the United States, will not prevent his country from developing a nuclear force that is capable of hitting the USA mainland.

It "will cut off sources of revenue that fund North Korea's efforts to develop the deadliest weapons known to humankind", Mr Trump said.

The executive order Trump inked just ahead of the lunch enhances Treasury Department authorities to target individuals who provide goods, services or technology to North Korea, Trump said.

As per the new penalties', the nations will have to choose whether to do business with the United States or North Korea.

He said it showed how seriously Trump takes North Korea's "reckless behavior".

The Pentagon said the mission was a "demonstration of United States resolve and a clear message that the president has many military options to defeat any threat".

Trump also said China was imposing major banking sanctions, too, but there was no immediate confirmation from the North's most important trading partner. He also described the President as "a rogue and a gangster fond of playing with fire" and added, "A frightened dog barks louder".

The statement came shortly after the country's delegation arrived in NY for the UN General Assembly.
