The movie will follow 21-year-old Lara Croft (played by Alica Vikander) as she sets out on a quest to find the fictional lost island of Yamatai. Determined to forge her own path, she refuses to take the reins of her father's global empire just as staunchly as she rejects the idea that he's truly gone. Suddenly, the stakes couldn't be higher for Lara, who-against the odds and armed with only her sharp mind, blind faith and inherently stubborn spirit-must learn to push herself beyond her limits as she journeys into the unknown.

Tomb Raider, which is directed by Roar Uthaug (The Wave), swings into theaters March 16.

Because between the likes of 2013's Tomb Raider and last year's Doom, classic properties have recently been re-energised in a way that has launched them back to the top of the gaming world.

In the Tomb Raider film, Lara must seek out the truth behind how her father went missing by venturing to the far-flung island where he disappeared.
