Sabrina the Teenage Witch Series in Development at CW From 'Riverdale' Team

Because we can't have nice things, only gritty reboots of formerly nice things, there is a dark Sabrina the Teenage Witch series come to The CW. Sabrina also has to wrestle with a troubled family history, one that leads her life to get bloody fast, as grudges are renewed and Sabrina learns what her aunts really want her for. With Berlanti expected to serve as executive producer on another Archie Comics-inspired series, you can see why are wondering if the two shows will be set in the same universe.

Aguirre-Sacasa is on board to write the script for the pilot with Lee Toland Krieger, who has directed many Riverdale episodes, to be behind the camera. In addition to showrunning Riverdale, Aguirre-Sacasa is also the writer of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comic book on which the new show is based.

Her iconic show ran for seven years, from 1996, and was based on the Archie Comics series of the same name. So, as Riverdale gears up to make it's sophomore debut in October 2017, fans should be on the lookout for an appearance from the formerly happy-go-lucky witch gone rogue. It remains to be seen if perhaps we'll see Sabrina a bit earlier than that.

But most importantly ... will it have a talking cat?

Riverdale is an American teen drama and dark reimagining of Archie Comics. That's the part I'm looking forward to the most. That's honestly not too far away, so it's safe to start getting excited about this!

What the announcement does not include is whether or not the show will actually move back to the '60s as the source comic does. The network is aiming to air the show during the 2018-2019 TV season. So either next fall or the January after that.

Firstly, it's worth noting that Aguirre-Sacasa has frequently talked about the possible appearance of Sabrina on Riverdale. Let us know in the comments!
