Niwot High grad among 4 college students attacked with acid in France

Four young female U.S. tourists were attacked with acid in Marseille's main train station an official said

Boston College in the statement said all the students plan to continue studying overseas in Europe, "and offered forgiveness to the woman who sprayed them with an acid solution".

Courtney Siverling, from Chester Springs, is a junior at Boston College, who is studying overseas.

Michelle Krug posted on Facebook saying she and her friends were attacked at a Marseille train station by a woman suffering from a mental illness.

According to the university, police arrested a 41-year old French woman whom they described as "disturbed".

Siverling wrote on her Facebook on Sunday night: "Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out to see if I'm ok and/or has been praying for us". The acid, which Krug said was "weak" and from a water bottle, got into one of her eyes and another student's eyes. "There is no possible connection with a terrorist attack", said an assured Sunday evening, prefecture of police of Marseille, which highlighted "a history of psychiatric disorders" of forties was arrested".

The four women intend to remain in Europe to continue their studies, the spokesman for Boston College told The Associated Press.

The other two students were not physically injured but were treated for shock at the scene by emergency services, Marseille police told ABC News.

Siverling posted on Facebook Sunday that she and her friends are all safe and said she did not sustain any injuries.

"The French police and the U.S. Consulate have been wonderful and we are so thankful for that", she wrote.

The young women were attacked at the train station in Marseille.

"Mental illness is not a choice and should not be villainized", Krug continued. One student plans to visit an eye doctor on Monday, he said. Siverling offered a prayer that the attacker "would be healed from her mental illness".

Boston College said the young women are now enrolled in its worldwide programmes. The intention of an acid attack is to blind, maim, disfigure, torture, or even kill the victim.

Since there is no terrorism involve on the said attack, the authorities already caught the suspect.
