Tom Brady on Colin Kaepernick: 'I hope he gets a shot'

Katrina Johnson second from right speaks outside Century Link Field after a taking part in a march supporting Black Lives Matter and other social causes before an NFL football game between the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers Sunday Sept. 1

He met with the New York Daily News' Shaun King, who said that he asked Kaepernick "Do you want to play football?"

Previously Kaepernick had never spoken publicly about wanting to play again, but on Sunday, he broke his silence. Although he had a respectable season, Kaepernick was released by the San Francisco 49ers and has not been picked up by any other team, despite having better stats than several quarterbacks who remain employed in the NFL.

The NFL Players Association (NFLPA) named free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick its week 1 NFLPA Community MVP, citing his donations and outreach to underserved communities.

The support for Colin Kaepernick from prominent voices has continued while he remains unemployed after protesting social injustices throughout last football season.

According to Lewis, Baltimore decided against signing Kaepernick after his girlfriend posted a tweet comparing Lewis and Bisciotti to two of the villains from Django Unchained. His decision to kneel during the national anthem in 2016, in protest of police treatment of minorities, sparked a national debate.

"It's not the fact that not one of the bad teams that obviously needs a quarterback signed him i.e. Jets / browns / jaguars / bears", he bagan in a lengthy caption. Btw I understand anybody that doesn't agree with him that's your right I get it. "He came to our stadium and beat us and took his team to the Super Bowl [in 2013, for the 2012 season]". "He's certainly qualified and I hope he gets a shot".
