Broncos run roughshod over Cowboys

Denver limited Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon to just 54 rushing yards in Monday's 24-21 victory, although the test likely will be significantly tougher this weekend when Ezekiel Elliott and Dallas' mammoth offensive line coming calling to Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Injuries struck both the Broncos and the Cowboys with alarming frequency during Denver's 42-17 win over Dallas on Sunday. Elliott was asked when was the last time he had been held to fewer than 10 yards rushing, and responded, "never", via The Dallas Morning News' Jon Machota.

Trevor Siemian connected with C.J. Anderson for a 16-yard touchdown in the second quarter for the Broncos to lead 14-7 over the Cowboys.

"Sacks are good, you just can't be anxious about that type of stuff", Miller said.

"We all know who Zeke is around here", Bryant said.

"I think we played well", Siemian said.

The rain poured and the thunder struck just as Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian was getting hot.

Cornerback Aqib Talib's 103-yard interception return marked the 10th time in his career he returned an interception for a touchdown.

After a almost hour long delay, the game was back in action and Dak Prescott made a 3 yard touchdown pass to Dez Bryant to tie the game.

The Cowboys were driving down the field when the game was put into a weather delay with 33 seconds left in the first quarter because of lightning in the area.

Remember: Denver was supposed to be the offensive underdog in this matchup, led by a seventh-round draft pick out of Northwestern whose arm strength and mobility are so often questioned.

There's no doubt that Prescott has been terrific for Dallas, but his upcoming milestone might say as much about the ever-changing league as it does about him. Dak had a decent game until Von Miller came alive and sacked him twice, but Dak was constantly knocked down, pressured, hurried, and hit several times as he threw the ball. LB Anthony Hitchens (knee) and CB Orlando Scandrick (hand) were listed among the Cowboys' inactive players for the game. "You've got to be better than us". "We didn't play up to our standard, obviously". Denver became one of three AFC West teams to start the year 2-0, and the division is going to be one to watch all year long.

"I've played enough football", he said.
