Trevor Noah Daily Show contract renewed to 2022

The deal which includes year-end specials featuring the host will keep him on the Viacom-owned cable network through 2022

Part of the new contract states that Noah will produce and host a "year-end Daily Show special" each year, beginning at the end of 2017, in an effort to celebrate another year that humanity has avoided nuking itself into oblivion.

Noah is just the latest late night host to re-up for the long-term. The company's TBS renewed its deal with Conan O'Brien through 2022. The frequently political series is on pace to finish the 2016-17 season as the only daily late-night talk show to post year-over-year gains among both total viewers (up 14 percent) and the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic (up 6 percent).

"The Daily Show" debuted in 1988 with host Craig Kilborn.

He also stated that Noah's ratings are up 28%, to 1.6 million viewers, as the only late-night show to grow over a year ago. Paul Pennolino directs. Sarah Babineau oversees for Comedy Central.
