NBA's Zach Randolph Cuts Deal In Weed Case ... No Jail Time

Report Kings Big Man Zach Randolph Takes Plea Avoids Jail Time

The 36-year-old was arrested last month in a late-night disturbance at a housing estate in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Watts.

Randolph walked out of a courtroom on August 31 with reduced charges, but still faced a pair of misdemeanor counts, including one for drug possession.

According to TMZ, Randolph cut a deal with prosecutors where he will plead guilty to resisting arrest, and in exchange the weed charged will be completely dropped.

"As we have said from the beginning, the reports regarding Zach Randolph were false and misleading", Randolph's agent said in a statement.

Randolph's arrest came weeks after he signed a two-year, $24 million contract with the Kings in the offseason after playing eight seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Randolph entered a no-contest plea and avoided jail time. The officers observed three people, including Randolph, run off but immediately stopped one of the men, police said.

Pleading guilty or no contest to a marijuana charge would have progressed Randolph in the NBA's marijuana program (first violation: warning, second violation: $25,000 fine, third violation: five-game suspension).
