Crystal Palace woes continue with new Boss Roy Hodgson

Roy Hodgson admitted he faced a stiff challenge to turn around Crystal Palace´s fortunes

Roy Hodgson has been appointed the new manager of Crystal Palace, the English Premier League club announced Tuesday.

He was replaced by former England manager Roy Hodgson and his arrival has prompted a backroom reshuffle.

This is an in-depth look at the latter - specifically how Pellegrino has done thus far changing games through a stronger bench than we have had in years. I have very good memories of those times, the people and players I worked with.

Hodgson's nightmare started nearly straight after he marked his homecoming with a " get behind us" plea to the fans at the Holmesdale Road end of the ground from where he once supported Palace as a boy.

"Today I thought it was a disappointing performance", said Hodgson on what was his first taste of management since England's defeat to Iceland in the last 16 at Euro 2016 almost 15 months ago.

Palace continued to press but belief seemed to ebb away from the players and the stands as Saints began to repel their attacks with relative ease, although Joel Ward did test Forster again with a header from a Yohan Cabaye cross. The players care and they hurt and you couldn't say they weren't trying.

His impact was minimal as his side easily saw out the closing stages, with Palace resorting to hopeful crosses and long balls, as they had for much of the afternoon.

"We have found our game, we can make short passes and we have a lot of energy from our fullbacks", added the Spaniard whose side had 28 shots on goal and inflicted Watford's heaviest top-flight league defeat.

"I didn't want to end it (my career) on a bad result but I think the 56 (England) games and the seven defeats is not so bad", he explained.

"There's no lack of attitude from the players and wanting to do things and wanting to work and wanting to become better as a team and individuals".

Mauricio Pochettino's side were held 0-0 by Swansea City, the third successive time Wembley's new tenants have failed to win at home in the league this season. We've got to just get down to working.
