"The militants tried to escape by firing on the security forces. They (Abu Ismail and Abu Qasim) are their people and they (Pakistan) should take their bodies", said Munir Ahmad Khan, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone.

Authorities on Friday imposed restrictions in parts of the city in the wake of apprehensions of trouble in the aftermath of killing of two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in an encounter.

The shops and other commercial establishments were also closed in these areas while internet services across Srinagar were blocked but later restored.

Ismail and Qasim were wanted by forces in around 15 cases registered against them including the attack on a bus carrying Amaranth yatris.

J&K police's technical cell has been instrumental in the killing of many top militant names including Bashir Lashkari, Abu Dujana, Sabzar Ahmed Bhat and Burhan Wani in the last couple of years.

On August 1 J&K police had chose to write to MHA requesting them to take up the issue with Pakistan high commission so that body of LeT chief Abu Dujana could be handed over to them.

Ismail would be the fourth top militant leader killed in Kashmir since a year ago.

According to security officials, they were tipped off about Ismail's presence in the area following which an operation was launched to track and eliminate him and his aides.
