Earlier, while announcing Tuesday's convention, senior Kannada writer K. Marulasiddappa said "The message that the killers of Gauri wanted to send us, progressive thinkers and democrats, was that we should shut up or face consequences". Who all will you target?" while Dalit activist Jignesh Mevani said: "The Sangh Parivar's ideology killed Gauri.

Investigations into the Gauri Lankesh murder case seem to be going nowhere but battlelines are getting clearly defined.

"We are all witness to how several organizations and individuals affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Hindu Jagarana Vedike, Vishva Hindu Parishad et al have been celebrating Gauri Lankesh's murder", the protesters said.

A special edition of Lankesh Patrike was also released at the protest event.

Lankesh, the daughter poet and journalist P Lankesh, used the Gauri Lankesh Patrike, that was started by her father, to write against the divisive politics of the right-wing.

The UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) Media Freedom Committee has condemned the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh in Bengaluru, also stating that Lankesh was a "trenchant critic of religious as well as casteist fundamentalist forces".

SIT sleuths probing the murder of journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh are confident that they will arrive at a conclusion on what led to the murder in two to three days.
