Porsche unleashes 911 GT3 Touring Package — FRANKFURT MOTOR SHOW

It contains the outlandish feature and manufacturers trades it as the sensible alternative. It also uses the same chassis with adaptive dampers and sits 25mm lower than a basic 911 Carrera, too. It's not the exact same item found on lesser 911s, the new version has a gurney flap on its trailing edge to increase its aerodynamic efficiency. This is the last naturally aspirated vehicle Porsche makes.

When Porsche says they have made a new auto, 9 out of 10 times the chances are it is a 911. On the front, we can observe the front turn signal lenses and the taillamps.

While the aesthetics might be different, the performance is the same. Otherwise it's a regular ol' motorsport derived GT3, which means a 500 horsepower flat-six displacing four litres, and 460Nm of torque for 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 316km/h. It produces the 500hp of power, and the torque power is about 339 lb-ft. 0-60 miles per hour comes in 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 196 miles per hour. That means it's just as quick off the line as the winged auto, but the Touring does have a slower top speed by 4km/h. If you want the Touring Package, meanwhile, you'll only be able to specify it with the six-speed manual transmission.

Sure, the GT3 Touring Package doesn't pack the carbon goodies of the $185,950 911 R (this was the MSRP that its initial buyers, which were 918 Spyder drivers, had to pay). Manufacturers made the interior of the auto as classic as possible.

As a result, the 911 GT3 Touring Package combines design elements from both GT3 and the standard 911 - just like the limited-run 911 R. Up front, the auto features the same bumper with massive air damps from the standard GT3, while the rear is more subtle - and gives the massive wing a miss. The 20-inch forged alloy wheels with centre lock caps are probably the biggest clue that this is no ordinary 911.

However, while the front and rear lights are identical with that of the 911 GT3, they are not dark-tinted.

The GT3 badge has come to the 991.2 generation of Porsche 911 and it is glorious. The steering wheel rim with twelve oclock marker, shift lever, door panel armrests, centre console storage compartment lid and interior door handles are upholstered in smooth-finish leather. We can find all the stitchings are with black thread. The finishing touch to the interior is black brushed aluminum trim. With six-cogs it also blips revs on downshifts in Sport mode if your heel and toe isn't up to scratch.

The 911 GT3 touring package pays homage to the 911 Carrera RS Touring from 1973. The Porsche logo on the rear is also finished in silver.

Retailers and Dealers got ready to take the bookings from September 11th, 2017. If you're the apex-kissing, lap-time-obsessed type, the seven-speed PDK is available on the regular GT3.
