The National Weather Service is calling for a hot clear week with temperatures in the 80s throughout the area.

Thursday's forecast calls for partly sunny skies with a high of 87 and a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon.

"The warming trend will continue into the weekend, " said KMTV meteorologist Ryan McPike, "with rain chances increasing, too".

An area of low pressure is spinning off the coast of central California, drawing cooler, moist air inland, the weather service says in its forecast discussion.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 89.

The Weather Service said chances for showers and storms return at 50 percent Saturday night, 20 percent Sunday, 40 percent Monday night and 20 percent Tuesday. South wind around 5 miles per hour. South southeast wind around 5 miles per hour. Southwest wind 10 to 15 miles per hour becoming light west after midnight.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 58. At night, clouds are expected to roll in with skies remaining mostly cloudy. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77.

Saturday night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 a.m., then a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62.

Friday night - Patchy fog after 11 p.m.
