Neighbor Stacey Glover told Dallas News that the party started off cheerful; people were grilling outside in the afternoon. A few hours later, all were dead. Rushin said multiple firearms of different types were found at the scene. Officers killed Spencer Hight, 32, making him the ninth fatality that night.

Plano police declined to name any of the victims or the shooter, saying they were still notifying victims' next of kin.

The victims have now been identified by Plano police on Tuesday as Meredith Emily Hight, 27, the gunman's estranged wife, Anthony Michael Cross, 33, James Richard Dunlop, 29, Olivia Nicole Deffner, 24, Darryl William Hawkins, 22, Myah Sade Bass, 28, Rion Christopher Morgan, 31 and Caleb Seth Edwards, 25.

The examination concerning the passings of the eight casualties is being taken care of by the Plano Police Department. Some of the victims' vehicles were still parked outside Meredith Hight's home, leaving detectives to cover up the license plates. Her parents told KXAS-TV (NBC 5) that she was going through a divorce. The man at that point went out of control, shooting nine individuals, seven lethally, inside the home and in the back yard, before being lethally shot by a Plano cop. He seemed upset, according a friend who spoke with NBC 5 but remained anonymous.

The couple's sixth wedding anniversary would have been on Monday, September 11, CBSDFW reported. He then went inside with her and opened fire as partygoers watched the Cowboys' season-opening game against the New York Giants.

Plano Police Officer David Tilley said during a news conference Monday that officers were called to a home on the 1700 block of West Spring Creek Parkway just after 8 p.m. after several people called 911 reporting active gunshots.

Rushin said the officer approached the house from the back and saw bodies in the backyard before confronting the suspect inside.

The officer "showed great bravery", immediately engaging and fatally shooting the armed suspect who was inside the residence, Rushin said. "I think the officer indicated extraordinary grit".

Police found seven people dead and two survivors critically wounded.

Meanwhile of the nine people shot, including the shooter, one person has survived the incident and is still under care at a local hospital.

A motive for the shooting rampage still hasn't been confirmed, but witnesses they saw Spencer Hight and a woman, possibly Meredith Hight, arguing before gunfire erupted.
