Jean-Claude Van Damme's son arrested

Hollywood star Jean-Claude Van Damme's youngest son has been arrested for allegedly taking his flatmate prisoner with a knife.

TMZ reports that Tempe Police were called to Nicholas Van Varenberg's apartment building after the 21-year-old allegedly punched a lift.

The cops had a chat with Nicholas and his unnamed roommate and discovered he had injured his hand and subsequently left. He alleged that Nicholas was angry at him for opening the door to the police.

Twenty minutes post the officers left, the roommate ran downstairs after them, claiming he had escaped the house, where Varenberg had held him at knifepoint.

Upon searching the residence, police found the knife and marijuana.

His arrest comes just months after he made his acting debut alongside his father in martial arts reboot Kickboxer: Vengeance.

Van Varenberg is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful imprisonment, pot possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

TMZ also published Van Varenberg's mug shot.

While siblings Bianca Bree, Sterling Rice and Kristopher Van Damme have led more public lives, Varenberg has tended to shy away from the spotlight.

In early 2015, Portugues has filed for a second divorce from Van Damme - citing irreconcilable differences.
