Hard work pays off for Cashel students on Junior Cert results day

Schools also have flexibility to use the JCPA report on other learning experiences or events in which the students have participated such a science fairs sporting activities or debating. Stock

The Minister for Education Richard Bruton congratulated all those who received their results.

Results from the reformed English Junior Cycle combine exam results with continual assessment marks and this year also sees the first time students will receive a Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement.

There are no longer A, B or C grades in English, with students instead receiving one of six "grade descriptors", such as a Distinction, Merit, or an Achieved.

"Today you are seeing the well-deserved results of all the hours of hard work and dedication that have gone into preparing for your exams".

The results will be available from schools over the course of the day and online at examinations.ie from 4pm.

Only four students obtained a grade A or its new equivalent in the Junior Cycle in 12 subjects compared with ten students past year.

This year also sees the demise of one subject as typewriting has been discontinued. The JCPA will replace the current Junior Certificate which students receive.

As well as the outcomes from the State exams, the JCPA will record students' achievements in a number of other new areas that will be assessed or recorded by the school. I would encourage all students to celebrate in a safe manner.
