Gennady Golovkin has amusing comment about his 'GGG' alter ego

Canelo Alvarez

So, who wins? The answer is: we do - the fans who have been longing for two champions at the top of their game to risk everything and fight each other for the glory of being the best, without the need for trash talk, without intervention from promoters.

This clash is being touted by boxing experts as the biggest clash in the 160-pound division since the historic night 30 years ago when "Sugar" Ray Leonard defeated "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler via what was a controversial split decision. Ultimately, boxing is a business and the judges may be swayed by the potential longevity of the younger champion.

"It's fantastic to be in Las Vegas".

Unfortunately for viewers in the United Kingdom, the late-night West Coast start time means that the undercard fights won't get underway until around 01:00 BST (British Summer Time) on Saturday night.

Boxer Canelo Alvarez arrives at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino on September 12, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada. I've prepared like I've never prepared before, to look for the knock-out.

It is worth noting that some critics have argued that Canelo's failure to knockout a completely outclassed Chavez Jr suggests that he lacks power above his usual weight of 154lbs.

You can watch the pre-fight press conference featuring Canelo and Golovkin live beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET. The Guinness world record holder boasts the highest knockout percentage in middleweight history, now at 89.9%. His amateur pedigree of 345 wins to eight losses means his ring IQ is exceptional.

But Canelo's ascent and the early signs of Golovkin's "decline" come with caveats. Golovkin ranks first in jabs landed per round (10.6) according to CompuBox.

And there was a big question mark over Golovkin against Daniel Jacobs last time.

Brook feels confident that Canelo has the youth, the speed, size and more importantly, punching power, to derail Golovkin.

Golovkin's aggressive pressure fighting is the polar opposite of the only person to defeat Canelo professionally: Floyd Mayweather.

Prior to this "super fight" Canelo had been an underdog just once in his career: against the now 50-0 Floyd Mayweather back in 2013, when the Mexican fighter was +235 on the books. "We've seen the best of him and I think people actually know - and this is a big factor - he is just human".

Golovkin doesn't have the tools that Canelo has, all he can do is go forward and try to break you down by imposing his will on you. No matter how tough the fights it is the training which is the grind. He works behind his jab better than anyone else. During the mid to late rounds we could expect some wars on the ropes, as GGG is most effective when his opponents are trapped against the ring and Canelo most risky when he's there. Though this will be a very contestable bout, our prediction is a late stoppage win for GGG.

Saturday's winner-takes-all fight is expected to generate at least £6million and will comfortably be the biggest pay-day of Canelo's career.
