FIU Game Cancelled Due To Hurricane Irma

IU is now in search of an opponent to play October 7, the Hoosiers' originally scheduled bye week.

The FAU football team made a decision to play its game at Wisconsin last week and remain there, unable to get back to South Florida. FIU said the game has "been deferred to a future date".

The Hoosiers next play against Georgia Southern on September 23. "To a man, our staff wanted to play". "So we really didn't get to plan B, C, D or E, but we had those in mind because we thought it was important one way or another that we get the game replaced". "We were excited to renew this rivalry with South Carolina State and hopefully we can continue to find ways to play every year".

"When Coach Tucker called the captains yesterday to ask our opinions, it was a unanimous yes from all of us", Ruff said.

"We all agreed it was a good opportunity to play another one of those big games", he said.

IU Athletics cited FIU coaches' and players' proximity to the storm, FIU classes being cancelled and logistical hurdles in travel as reasons for the cancellation. "It gives us another chance to show off our team and our abilities at a national level".

IN will be the second Power 5 program Charleston Southern faces in 2017. The IU Athletics Ticket Office will send the new tickets and parking (if applicable) to be used for the game on October 7.

And this time it involves Indiana. The Buccaneers picked up a game against Colorado during the 2013 season.

IN opened the 2017 season on Thursday, Aug. 31 with a 49-21 loss at home to the Ohio State Buckeyes.
