Eight people shot and killed at Cowboys watch party in Texas

The shooting took place on Sunday in the city less than 20 miles northeast of Dallas.

Tilley said when police arrived, the first officer to enter the home was involved in a confrontation with the suspected shooter.

According to police, an officer fatally shot the suspect.

Two others at the home were hospitalized, and the police officer was not injured.

There was no information yet on the relationship between the suspect and the victims.

Earlier on July 31, at least one person was killed and several others injured in a shooting in Austin, Texas. Then around 8 pm, she heard gunshots and smelled gunpowder.

Seven people were pronounced dead at the scene, while another person died later, Rushin said.

"She was a cook, and a quite fine one, and she loved hosting friends and families", Debbie Lane told WFAA of her daughter.

The gunman was later shot on the scene and killed by police.

Mr Tilley said that a shooting of this magnitude was unusual for Plano and investigations are continuing.

A nearby officer responded and heard more gunfire as he arrived.

Rushin said he did not know how many people had attended the gathering.

The police have not yet determined a motive for the crime.

Neighbors told the Morning News the violence broke out as people were watching a Dallas Cowboys football game, but police did not confirmed that. So he instantly knew what was going on. And as they were arguing, the woman was trying to go back in.
