South Carolina Universities Recognized by US News & World Report

The University was again ranked No. 2 among top historically Black colleges and universities, or HBCUs. Average earnings per student exceeded $10,300 past year, and about two-thirds of graduating co-op students at UC get job offers from their co-op employers.

Princeton University retained the No. 1 spot on the National Universities list followed by Harvard University, Yale University and University of Chicago (tied for No. 3), and Columbia University, Stanford University, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (tied for No. 5).

UB improved on several metrics tracked by the magazine, including reputational ranking by university peers, increase in SAT scores, increase in number of classes of fewer than 20 students and higher graduation rate. The School of Engineering fell three spots into a tie for 47th among public schools. In terms of employability ranking, five out of top 10 universities are based out of the United States.

Baylor is rated No. 62 in the U.S. News High School Counselor Rankings.

The newest rankings include MSU as 22 in the Top Public University-Master's/South division, up two spots from past year. UB's ranking, at No. 41, is up two places from last year's No. 43. The data also include schools' predicted six-year graduation rate. "We are extremely proud of our recent national rankings and remain committed to offering a high-quality, affordable education that prepares our graduates to be civic, professional and military leaders".

Other Oklahoma schools on the list of Best Regional Colleges in the West and their rankings are St. Gregory's University in Shawnee, 19, and Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, 21.

"We appreciate the top-tier ranking, but what matters most for students selecting a school is the match between the particular interests, abilities and ambitions of each individual student and the specific programs and opportunities offered by a particular school", UM spokesman Rick Fitzgerald said. The value of Howard University's contribution to the nation and the world is evident in the many stellar alumni of the institution who are in leadership roles throughout the world.

The University of Tulsa finished first in the state at 87 in a three-way tie.

The rankings focus on student outcomes - including graduation and retention rates - which carry the most weight at 30 percent.
