Plateau, MFM in final day battles for NPFL title

Plateau United defeat Enugu Rangers to win the Nigeria Premier League title

And this, Plateau United is aware of.

Plateau United have been crowned champions of the 2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after beating visiting and former champions Enugu Rangers 2-0 on Saturday, September 9.

But on the last day of the season, they face outgoing champions Rangers, who they have only managed just one win against in their last five NPFL meetings.

In fact, the Olukoya Boys finished 16th courtesy of a last day drama involving Heartland. But the side is unarguably the standout team of the season.

Plateau stayed glued to the top of the standings except on four occasions when MFM deposed them - on Match Days 1, 14, 16 and 18.

Plateau United will tomorrow at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos, confront reigning League champions, Enugu Rangers in Matchday 38 of the NPFL.

The Jos based team will now represent Nigeria in next year's CAF Champions League along with runners-up MFM FC, who lost 2-1 at El Kanemi Warriors, while Shooting Stars, ABS FC, Gombe United and Remo Stars have been relegated from the NPFL.

"The quality of the football being played, the quality of officiating are two major areas that need to be addressed". If you ask many coaches about their salaries you would find out that they are owing them. "And in most cases it is the management that recruit players and only hire coaches to handle them".

"We have trained very hard for this and it is our believe that we can end the season with an away win in Jos".

"So until the proper things are done, we should not expect anything from both Plateau and MFM".
