Thursday evening, he had one more chance to make his dream a lasting reality as the Broncos hosted the Cardinals in their preseason finale - a game meaningless for its score but significant for Sloter and more than two dozen others clawing for roster spots.

Would the Denver Broncos really cut T.J. Ward?

Ward was due $4.5 million this year in the final season of the four-year, $22.5 million contract he signed in 2014. However, Denver has decided Ward's time as a member of the "No-Fly Zone" has come to an end.

Preseason MVP quarterback Kyle Sloter was also released by the Broncos on Saturday.

Ward started all 95 regular-season games played during his National Football League career with Denver (2014-16) and Cleveland (2010-13) after being selected by the Browns in the second round (38th overall) of the 2010 draft out of Oregon.

The Denver Broncos have had a defensively dominant team for the past few years, led by players like Von Miller, Aquib Talib, Chris Harris Jr, and TJ Ward.

"Hate to see my brother (at) BossWard43 go", tweeted defensive end Derek Wolfe "Huge part of our success as a defense".

"Like I always say for young players, you get exposure or you get exposed", Arians said.

"Of course, we all support Justin, " said Broncos starting inside linebacker Brandon Marshall. "Irreplaceable Passion, Leadership, and just a DOG on the field! Somebody will get a STEAL!"

"He got off to a slow start, but he made some plays in that last two-minute drive and the drive before to get us in scoring range and get us some points, so I'm excited about Kyle", Joseph said at halftime.

The Cowboys released quarterback Kellen Moore, a former Lion, making undrafted rookie Cooper Rush of Central Michigan the backup to Dak Prescott.

The Cowboys also cut guard Nate Theaker (Wayne State).

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported that the Cincinnati Bengals have released veteran tackle and NFL Players Association president#Eric Winston, who played 16 games last season. McDonald reportedly agreed to a $24 million, four-year extension with the Dolphins.

BILLS: Buffalo reached an injury settlement with wide receiver Rod Streater and placed linebacker Sam Barrington on injured reserve.

While Denver would have loved to keep Ward's talent on the roster longterm, the team already has over $30 million in salary tied in the secondary for 2018 which would have made it very hard to sign the 30-year old up past this season.
