Opposition an 'alliance of scared people': BJP

Rahul says PM Modi’s I Day speech was short as he has nothing to say

Rahul yesterday too cornered Prime Minister Modi and the BJP over various issues including the recent Gorakhpur tragedy.

The BJP hit back at the Opposition meet on Thursday, describing it as an "alliance of scared people".

Mr Gandhi, he said, has silenced everybody in the Congress to such an extent that despite his party's loss every time under him, nobody dares to ask him any question.

Terming the remarks made by Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad against its party Vice-president Rahul Gandhi as "extremely unfortunate" and "intemperate", the Congress today said that the comments by the BJP leader reflected arrogance and "ignorance".Talking to reporters here, AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari said, "the Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad made some extremely unfortunate and intemperate remarks against the Congress Vice-president which reflected arrogance as well as ignorance that has characterised this Government in the last 38 months". Is it part of the composite heritage of India? This is an alliance of those who are anxious over charges of corruption and are facing action. In the recently held Rajya Sabha elections in Gujarat, a party MLA had voted against BJP.

Speaking at the conclave, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi attacked the BJP Government at the Centre and the RSS, saying Prime Minister Modi party's ideological parent RSS follows "a divisive agenda". "As for this bogey about people from the Sangh occupying Government positions, let me be clear people from the RSS who make up civil society enter government services from time to time", he said.

"Earlier he (Rahul) used to talk without homework, now he frequently talks something that is baseless", he said. Anyway, this was expected from Rahul Gandhi, because his grandmother favoured committed judiciary. According to IANS report, The RSS, which began operating from Cannanore in 1928, a Communist bastion, has lost as many as 86 workers in as many years in the district infamous for political killings, say RSS workers.

"I condemn this utterly irresponsible comment of Rahul Gandhi concerning judiciary and media. The Narendra Modi government fully respects the independence of judiciary and fully upholds the independence of media", he said.

"When Rajiv Gandhi was facing charges of corruption over Bofors, he used to blame the RSS". It's a nationalist and honest organisation. He pointed out how Rahul continued to head the Congress undemocratically by creating fear among Congress party workers even after losing elections. "Now he is feeling blithe by sitting with Rahul Gandhi", the BJP leader quipped.

BJP's Ravi Shankar Prasad reminded Yadav that he had started his political career during the JP movement by opposing the Congress.
