Wenger happy Sanchez & Oxlade-Chamberlain have not followed Coutinho path

The London Evening Standard claim that Wenger would keep hold of Oxlade-Chamberlain in an ideal world, but the 23-year-old wants to ensure he's playing regular football ahead of the World Cup in Russian Federation next year. It is mentioned that the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City have been linked with him as well but Chelsea are clear favorites to secure his signature.

The Evening Standard have reported that Chelsea and Arsenal are in talks over a potential £35m deal for Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Wenger has been keen to stress that the former Southampton prodigy is not for sale and even tipped him for future greatness. "Personally, I want him to stay here for a long time".

Oxlade-Chamberlain is one of a number of the Gunners' top stars who are yet to commit their futures to the club with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil also turning down several offers of fresh terms.

But, with the England global approaching the final year of his contract, Wenger said he plans to keep Wilshere at the club next season before reviewing his situation at the end of the campaign.

It would also appear that the Ox would be quite happy to acept a transfer to play for our London rivals Chelsea and I can understand that to some extent. "I'm convinced that he will be in the next two to three years the English player everyone looks at".

"Let's not be wrong, it's not an ideal situation on the financial side and it demands some sacrifice", he added. "But it doesn't mean the players will not extend their contract, we still have that possibility and we work on that as well".
