Man City have £18m Jonny Evans bid rejected by West Brom

When the rumors about Manchester City being interested in West Bromwich Albion captain Jonny Evans first came out, we all thought it was hilarious and amusing but there was no way this was true.

Sport states that the Citizens are keen on bringing the Northern Irishman worldwide to the club, having held discussions during the last few weeks with the Baggies, but that their initial offer for the 29 year-old has been turned down.

Evans, 28, started his career at Manchester United and was playing there up until 2015 when he made the move to the Midlands based club.

The former Manchester United player could join the small number of players to have appeared for both City and United if a deal can be agreed with the Baggies.

City boss Pep Guardiola stated last month, that he was hoping to sign another defender before the transfer window closed, as the club look to juggle European and domestic competitions.

Eliaquim Mangala is not in favour at City, and has been linked with Inter Milan.

Evans arrived the Hawthorns two years ago from Manchester United and since then, the 29-year-old defender has proved to be something of an underrated player in the Premier League.

It follows a succession of bids from Leicester City for the player, the last of which was said to be worth £15 million.
