Despite the exploits of Donaldson, the Jays have actually suffered a defeat of 6-4 in the face of the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night in Toronto.

"Hopefully, " manager Kevin Cash said after Tuesday's 6-4 win, "there is a carryover". "Once we got some runs, there was a looseness going on". The teams play two more games in the series to end the Jays 10-game homestand. Rounding out the list of who is ahead of the Blue Jays, the Baltimore Orioles and Texas Rangers are 2.0 games back of L.A. The Rays suffered five shutout defeats in that span, and lead the majors with 10 scoreless losses.

"It's one of those things, I'm upset at myself for letting it get to me", said Estrada.

The basis of the Rays Blake Snell (1-6) surrendered four points in six innings of work. Snell's last victory came September 22, 2016, against the New York Yankees. Normally, I don't really think about that stuff. Donaldson has gone deep nine times in 17 games. The three RBIs gives him 500 for his career. In the fourth, catcher Ramos slugged another 77 miles per hour change up over the wall, this time to left.

Corey Dickerson's RBI single made it 4-1, and the Rays chased Estrada (5-8) after Adeiny Hechavarria and Daniel Robertson drew bases-loaded walks in the fifth.

Estrada has struggled this season against Tampa Bay, losing all four of his starts against the division rivals while giving up 22 earned runs over 18 2/3 innings.

Some teams just have a player's number.

"I felt okay. I did make some good pitches and they found a way against me".

Of Donaldson's past 22 hits, 13 have been for extra bases. Darwin Barney, and Jose Bautista have preceded the marble. The "Bringer of Rain" has been red hot at the plate this week, and hit a home run for the 3rd consecutive game against the Rays on Tuesday night.

"My gut tells me nothing's going to happen", Gibbons told reporters before the game.

Blue Jays: C Miguel Montero (right groin) went 0 for 3 in his first rehab game at Triple-A Buffalo.

Faria was on fire to start the year, but has taken back-to-back losses after getting literally zero run support in those two losses. Faria is winless in three outings. The Jays opened the scoring in the second when, with Steve Pearce on first base, Pillar looped a hit to the right of straightaway centre field.
