The former president said the party's achievements could not be match especially in the last four years of his administration during which inflation was tamed to a single digit, it maintained price stability and grew the economy to be number one in Africa.

The said solving the issues of parallel Congresses in some states of the federation was paramount as it resolved that all matters relating to such states should be referred to the Convention for final decision.

"I am impressed by the renewed enthusiasm and commitment of members towards rebuilding the party after the protracted leadership tussle", he said.

Senator Okowa and other party members reportedly set up "Another review committee to study the report of the constitution review committee and make recommendations as to how some positions would be zoned to the various regions".

"Let all presidential aspirants from the 19 states of the North be subjected to one primaries; whereas, all national chairmanship candidates from the 17 states of the South also be subjected to one primary to contest together, so as to produce the best candidate, to practicalise democracy", he added.

The governor, who spoke yesterday during the inspection of the Eagles Square venue of the event in Abuja, assured that everything needed for its success had been perfected.

"A collective leadership and partnership resolved to do things right and that is all that we need to build the strength to recapture power", he said.

"We will continue to pray for the president". He accused the ruling party of bringing untold hardship on Nigerians, adding that the PDP would wipe Nigerians' tears and deliver to them desirable dividends of democracy.

Jonathan stated that it would be hard for any political party including the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to beat the PDP in 2019.

The PDP leaders attending the convention include former President Jonathan, former Senate President David Mark, Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Governor Fayose of Ekiti State Governor, and former Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State.
