Neymar scores, provides assist on PSG debut

I am very calm.

The 25-year-old have us flashes of brilliance, a cheeky goal and a sublime assist to give Edinson Cavani his first goal of the Ligue 1 season.

Guingamp, a sleepy little town 500 kilometres west of Paris with a population of barely 7,000, may have been a slightly incongruous setting for such an occasion but the match was broadcast live in more than 180 countries according to his new club.

In the 35th minute, he scooped a delicate cross above the defence but Marquinhos's header crashed onto the bar.

All that was missing was a goal of his own and that arrived eight minutes from the end as Neymar finished from close range following a Cavani cutback.

His transfer was not completed in time to feature in PSG's 2017-18 Ligue 1 opener against Amiens last weekend - where he was presented to the Parc des Princes crowd - but he made up for lost time in style at Stade de Roudourou.

The Brazilian was more decisive on the next goal as he set up Cavani, the Uruguayan scoring with a low shot after he collected his new team mate's long pass in the 62nd minute.

Neymar's throughball was cut out and ran to Ikoko but his pass back to Johnsson was heavy and wide of the goalkeeper, who had to stretch with his foot and could not prevent the ball rolling in off the left-hand post.

Defending champions Monaco have also won both matches so far after Radamel Falcao netted a hat-trick in their 4-1 victory at Dijon earlier. The France global Mbappé was left on the bench amid speculation that he wants to join PSG but he was not needed as Monaco equalled the record of 14 consecutive wins in the French league.

The first notice of Neymar's threat was served five minutes later as he jinked inside on his right foot before blasting over from 20 yards, and he nearly created the opener as his teasing cross was thumped against the angle of post and crossbar by an unmarked Marquinhos.
