Co-anchor Colin Jost cited the upheaval surrounding the White House, saying that while he was unsure whether Trump had colluded with Russia, "He's definitely colluding with 'Dancing With the Stars'".

While President Trump is taking some time away from Washington this week, not everyone is getting out of the office. It's not an unprecedented move; Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler hosted Weekend Update Thursdays when the show was also super popular during the run-up to the 2008 presidential election (ah, how we long for the days when Sarah Palin seemed like the worst candidate in the country).

Jost added, "You can't threaten someone when you are sitting down. even FDR stood up when he was talking tough".

Some fans expressed hopes that Scaramucci would be played by Bill Hader, who left SNL in 2013 after eight seasons.

"When did the Statue of Liberty get so bougie?".

Cast member Alex Moffatt played Eric Trump and Mikey Day played Donald Jr.in the skit discussing the investigation into collusion with Russian Federation.

"ISIS is on the ropes, the border has never been more secure, and the story of the summer..."

"When you met with the Russians?"

"The whole story is a nothing burger", Don Jr. responded.

"Guy shouldn't get in trouble because nothing happened!" (Mikey Day) also had a great appearance; Moffat does Eric as an absolutely hilarious dolt, and his wide-eyed bafflement at encountering a fidget spinner was brilliantly played.

"My father gives me advice all the time", he said.

"Scaramucci was sort of like missing Christmas", Jost told NBC News about the now former White House communications director, whose brief tenure included a profanity-filled interview with The New Yorker.

"The Mooch has no regrets, baby", he said.

Jones appeared as herself to discuss her newly toned bod after a summer spent hitting the gym, something the comic has been showing off in a steady stream of Instagram posts all summer.
