Jags RB Leonard Fournette on NFL Debut: "It Was Really Easy"

Refocused: Jacksonville Jaguars 31, New England Patriots 24

How did Fournette feel about his first time stepping on the field with National Football League players?

Wide receiver Marquise Lee was carted off the field during the Jaguars' practice on Sunday, but the extent of his injury isn't known. Or he may fizzle out like many first-round backs that have not quite made it over the years. "That's how I've been since I first got into the NFL. I think, to me, it was really easy".

Fournette entered his college career as the consensus No. 1 overall prospect for the 2014 national recruiting cycle and even drew comparisons to former NFL MVP Adrian Peterson in his first training camp at LSU.

"We were looking at the pitch count after yesterday, and we came in today and we felt like, 'Hey, let's just rest him.' So it was basically for rest", Marrone said.

"It's a lot slower than I really thought", Fournette said, per NFL.com.

At this time the injury does not appear to be serious, but the Jaguars are wise to be cautious with what is arguably their most valuable asset. Henne looked sharp, but Marrone said it had nothing to do with a quarterback competition, rather, trying to keep the number of throws mornings meeting practice under control.

"Yeah. I think so", Fournette said very matter-of-factly, without the slightest smile, following the Jags' 31-24 win. I feel like we got great work in there.

During his freshman season, he carried the ball 187 times and rushed for 1,034 yards and 10 touchdowns. That's an average of 3.44 yards per carry.

The Jaguars begin the regular season on September 10 at the Houston Texans.
