IAS officer found dead in Ghaziabad

Mukesh Pandey

"The idea is to identify young officers under stress and prevent them from taking such an extreme step", Hindustan Times quoted Principal secretary, forest, and secretary of the association's Bihar unit, Vivek Kumar Singh as saying.

"I am Mukesh Pandey IAS 2012 batch Bihar cadre presently posted as DM Buxar".

In the WhatsApp message to his friends, Pandey had written, "I am committing suicide in district centre area of Janakpuri West Delhi near hotel by jumping off the 10th floor of the building". I am fed up of my life and my faith has been lifted from the existence of man. I am frustrated with life and don't think that we humans are contributing anything. I am sorry, I love you all! Police found a suicide note and investigate that is really a suicide or someone forced him to commit suicide.

He had also mentioned in his suicide note about his loss of "belief on human existence". Though police went into action immediately to track him, they could not prevent the incident. The friend informed the Delhi police and the police launched a search for Pandey but could not locate him. The personnel had been on their toes for almost six hours when the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Ghaziabad informed them that Mukesh Pandey, the Buxar District Magistrate (DM), had been found.

The dead body has been sent for an autopsy. His first positing was as subdivisional officer, Balia, in Bihars Begusarai district.

Senior IAS officer Mukesh Pandey who allegedly committed suicide in the national capital yesterday had made Assam proud by securing 14th position in IAS examination and his sudden death came as a shock for people of the state. "Later, his body was found on tracks in Ghaziabad", the DM said.

The police received information around 6.30 pm and started analysing the CCTV footage but it was seen that he had left the mall around 6 pm. "Visuals of the station were also checked but we found nothing", explained the officer. His head and torso were found separated on the railway tracks almost a kilometre from the Ghaziabad junction at Kotgaon railway crossing around 8.40pm by a government railway police (GRP) patrol team.
