Terrorists Linked To Al-Qaida Arrested In Delhi

Officials alleged that Raja-ul Ahmed is originally a member of Ansarullah Bangla Team, an Al Qaeda inspired Islamic extremist group in Bangladesh

The suspected Al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) fugitive Syed Mohammed Zishan Ali had been wanted by Delhi police special cell since June 2016. The special cell got onto Ali's trail following arrests of suspected AQIS members in December 2015, who had revealed that Ali was a key member.

Ali's brother Arshiyan is also alleged to have links with global terror outfits.

Intelligence sources quoted by Zee News said that Zishan Ali was arrested last night during an operation. The Delhi Police Special Cell sought Ali's custody "to identify the logistics/finance aid to his terrorist outfit from India and overseas and confront the evidences collected so far". He was arrested from IGI Airport on Tuesday after being deported from Saudi Arabia. The Delhi police took him into custody.

Aside the five accused which were arrested, the agency also told that there are 12 other leaders for whom court had earlier issued a non-bailable warrant against them.

Last week, another terrorist from Ansar Bangla, identified as Abdullah, was arrested by police in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. He did not divulge details about the place of arrest.

The second terrorist, Raza Ul Ahmed is reportedly a member of the Al-Qaida outfit in Bangladesh Ansar Bangla and was arrested while he was trying to escape to Nepal on Thursday morning.
