Sonic Mania for PC delayed to August 29

Sonic Mania’s animated intro is a thing of beauty

While the Switch, Xbox One and PS4 versions of Sonic Mania are still on track for August 15, 2017, the PC edition has been delayed by 2 weeks until Aug. 29, 2017. Their reasoning for this delay was that the PC version needed more optimization; basically, the team didn't want to put it out in an unpolished state.

Even if you find yourself having to wait a little longer, it's good to know a little more time is being taken to make sure Sonic Mania is the best it can be. Along with goodies such as a statue of Sonic standing on top of a Sega Genesis, the collector's edition comes with a digital code for Sonic Mania. Sonic Mania features the classic 8-bit retro graphics from the first titles in an advanced engine capable of rendering the game in high definition resolutions.

Indeed with the geometric backdrops of this short animation, the developers appear to be giving a nod to the arguably very poor Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog show, which although nostalgic, is no way near as well liked or remembered as its contemporary, Sonic the Hedgehog. A lot of Sonic fans are looking forward to Sonic Mania, so we'll see in just a few short days if it lives up to the excitement. The game was originally meant to be released next week, on August 15th.

You're not dreaming. Since the 90's, Sonic has advanced from the 2D world into 3D, and has crossed multiple platforms along the way.
