Riz Ahmed may join Tom Hardy in Sony's Venom movie

Riz Ahmed in Talks to Join Tom Hardy in Spider-Man Spinoff 'Venom'

Riz Ahmed is in talks to join Venom. Well, not much is now known about the movie's plot, but if we dig into the Marvel archive (Marchive) we might find some clues.

The British actor played Bodhi Rook, who helps Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso steal the Death Star plans, in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Sony hasn't commented on the speculation, and the company has previously insisted "Venom" will not be a part of the Spider-Man film franchise, but will instead be seen as a standalone movie. And while his role isn't clear yet, sources say he'll be "a popular Marvel Comics character". With Tom Hardy announced as Venom, and the film's main villain being Carnage - who else could be in the film? Some of his more recent film credits include Nightcrawler, Jason Bourne and Rogue One.

What Ahmed's role would be in the movie is not yet known.

Tom Hardy will be seen in the lead role in the film, which will arrive in cinemas on October 5, 2018.

Many have been skeptical of Sony's ill-fated plans for an extended Spider-Man universe ever since The Amazing Spider-Man 2 smushed any hope of connected spinoffs back in 2014. Obviously from simply looking at Riz Ahmed and Pedro Pascal, it appears as if Sony was thinking of going with a different version of Venom. Brock was played by Topher Grace in "Spider-Man 3".

Throughout the history of Marvel Comics, Venom has appeared alongside Spider-Man, Iron Man, Deadpool, Hulk, and other Marvel Comics characters.
