Chelsea star Lewis Baker signs another 5-year deal for the Blues

Lewis Baker of Vitesse Arnhem celebrates scoring his teams first goal of the game during the Dutch KNVB Cup Semi-final match between Sparta Rotterdam and Vitesse Arnhem held at Het Kasteel

The England Under-21 worldwide, 22, was part of Vitesse Arnhem's Dutch Cup winning side last season, scoring 10 goals in 33 league games.

"It's going to be an exciting season", Baker told the club website. "Hopefully we can do that together".

"I already know what the Championship is about".

Middlesbrough are looking to gain promotion back to the Premier League after being relegated from England's top flight last season, finishing 19th and 12 points from safety.

Middlesbrough have announced the loan signing of Chelsea midfielder Lewis Baker until the end of the season.

However, in hindsight the plan seems to have always been to farm him out to another club once again. He was said to have traveled and trained with the first-team for the duration of their pre-season tours in light of the ongoing midfield depth crisis, but strangely enough, never played in midfield during his minimal cameos.

If Baker was to move to Boro he would be another notable addition for Garry Monk's side.

Marten De Roon look set to join Atalanta for a reported fee of £15 million from Middlesbrough, according to Sky Sports.

The 22-year-old has made just one first team appearance for the Blues and, like many young players at Stamford Bridge, continues to struggle to force his way into Antonio Conte's reckoning, and as such another loan spell is forthcoming for the England Under-21 worldwide. He had joined Atalanta from Heerenven in summer 2015.
