Zach Randolph reportedly arrested on drug charges

He said officers from the LAPD Southeast Division were on a routine patrol when they encountered a large crowd blocking the street while drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana.

Online records show Randolph was arrested at 11 p.m. and booked into jail at 4:23 a.m., with his bail set at $20,000. In response, the police had to call for backup.

But based on the reports, clearing Randolph may be easier said than done.

Another man who was arrested was allegedly an ex-convict in possession of a gun.

TMZ reports six police cars were vandalized by having tires slashed and windows busted, and officers had to form a battle line to restore order.

Randolph, 36, was arrested during an incident in which police were called to the Nickerson Gardens Housing Project in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Randolph, who had a brief run with the Knicks starting in 2007, signed a 2-year, $24 million deal with Sacramento in July.

When officers tried to disperse the crowd, a disturbance began that led to five LAPD vehicles and one sheriff's vehicle being damaged.

He was drafted 19th overall out of Michigan State by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2001 draft. He will be relied upon by his new team to serve as a veteran locker room leader and also guide their young players in the early stages of their careers. Early in his second season in NY, he was traded to the Clippers along with Mardy Collins for Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas in 2008.

Randolph helped the Grizzlies get to the playoffs seven times.
