Sonic Mania Delayed Two Weeks on PC

Sonic Mania's opening animation is G-rated, but it's aimed at the hearts of those of you old enough to be nostalgic

The PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch versions of Sonic Mania are still on track for release on August 15. That list is missing one platform though: PC.

Sonic Mania was originally due to release on 15th August, unfortunately, it has suffered a delay, but thankfully not for too long.

Since Sonic Mania is an officially published fan remix of 16-bit era Sonic games, it naturally taps into the Sonic of the 1990's and those first four games rather than later interpretations.

According to a statement posted on the official Sonic Twitter account, the PC edition is being delayed until August 29 for further polish. Sega made a decision to delay this release in order to better optimize the game. "It is so important to us".

However, to help make up for the two-week delay, Sega will be providing free Steam copies of the original Sonic the Hedgehog for people who pre-order Sonic Mania or buy the Collector's Edition. Using this code will add the game to your library, but it won't be available until the 29th. While many will argue the reason for that, Headcannon and PagodaWest have decided that it was straying from the classic formula, which is why Sonic Mania goes back to Sonic's 2D roots. The Sonic series has always ebbed and flowed in terms of quality, but this latest release has a lot of fans excited for what's to come.
