Sixers to face Celtics in NBA London Game 2018

Philadelphia 76ers

But for one week of the regular season since 2011 NBA fans in the United Kingdom get the chance to see the sport up close and personal as the biggest basketball stars cross the Atlantic to play at The 02 Arena in London.

For the eighth time in league history, the National Basketball Association will be playing a regular-season game in London.

The contest will be the league's eighth regular-season contest in London, and it will mark the second appearance for Philadelphia and Boston after playing preseason games in London and Manchester, respectively. "The basketball fans there are very passionate and I am looking forward to playing the Celtics there in January".

The Denver Nuggets posted a 140-112 victory over the Indiana Pacers in last season's game in London.

"The NBA is the world's most global sports property, and the Philadelphia 76ers have always had a dynamic, worldwide fanbase thanks to our remarkable on-court legacy", added Sixers CEO Scott O'Neil.

The NBA is growing rapidly in popularity in the United Kingdom with more fans than ever tuning in during the early hours of the morning to watch their favourite stars in action. The 76ers traded up to select Markelle Fultz with the top overall choice while the Celtics tabbed Jayson Tatum with the third pick. They have played exhibition games there as well as other sites in Europe.

The Boston Celtics are going across the pond.

Unfortunately for Sixers fans, this announcement comes with just a tiny bit of bad news: the Sixers are technically the home team in this game, meaning they'll play one less game at the Wells Fargo Center (and against a Eastern Conference rival like Boston, no less).

Tickets for the game will go on sale in October 2017.

Because the Sixers are the home team, season-ticket holders with automatic payment plans will not be charged for one game.
