The team said in a statement that Lewis' absence is expected to be brief, with a possible return on Tuesday or later in the week. However, in the release, the team noted that Lewis could be back to coaching as early as later this week.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said he's returned to work after missing Tuesday's practice for a minor health issue. While a head coach taking an absence from the team during this time of year is always concerning, especially when a health issue is involved, it's always a bit concerning. Stacey Dales of the NFL Network and CBS later reported good news, that Lewis has a Baker's Cyst, rather than a blood clot.

"It's different just because Marvin's always been here", Dalton added. I think we've got a lot of great coaches on the staff to do that. "I thought the flow was good".

Simmons also is in his 15th season with the Bengals. No other National Football League coach has lost his first seven playoff games. He has served as the special teams coordinator for the past five seasons.
