Gearbox's New Game is a Competitive First-Person Shooter Codenamed Project 1v1

Gearbox is making another new game that isn’t Borderlands 3

Gearbox Software, the acclaimed developer behind the games Borderlands and Battleborn, has announced their latest project, codenamed Project 1v1.

Gearbox, which is best known as the developer of the Borderlands series, has quietly revealed its next project. It seems card games are all the rage these days, with even Valve jumping into the genre earlier today.

Gearbox did note that it was preparing to launch a "short" closed technical test for the game sometime this summer, and users can sign up at the website above.

This Close Technical Test is expected to include three different modes, which are Ranked, Challenge and Arena.

Registration for the test is available on the official website, but be warned that all game servers will be based in North America, meaning worldwide players may have some issues with latency.

Project 1v1 is the code name for a top-secret, in-development, competitive first person shooter-and we want you to have a chance to be one of the first people to try it out! In Ranked, players are matched with a foe around their similar level, winning will result in experience and new cards.

Challenge a friend to an unranked match. In Arena mode, competitors will queue up to challenge the current Arena champion and take their place with a victory. Unfortunately, that's virtually everything we know; the email Gearbox sent out to some fans and the game's new website both contain little more info than that.
