Hugh Jackman NOT Playing Scar In Lion King Remake

This casting also reveals why Jackman posted this cryptic tweet yesterday.

The studio showed off a shot-for-shot recreation of the beloved animated classic's opening scene featuring the song, "The Circle of Life".

According to a new report, there is "absolutely no truth" to Jackman being attached.

The rumor was denied when TheWrap approached Jackman's representatives, who confirmed the falsified information.

The film is now in production in the United Kingdom, and "cInematic ringmaster", director Tim Burton sent a video greeting, saying the 1941 animated classic is "one of my favorite of the Disney movies, and we are working to give this all the heart and emotion [of the original]".

It's plausible that Jackman could really be the voice of Scar, and his team is trying to keep it under wraps until there is an official announcement.

The starry voice cast of "The Lion King" remake includes Donald Glover (Simba), James Earl Jones (Mufasa), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), Billy Eichner (Timon) and John Oliver (Zazu). Unfortunately, for now it seems as if this claim doesn't hold water but fans still have hope for Jackman.

The Lion King is due out some time next year.

Today, kicked off the biggest day for Disney's D23 Convention.

When it comes to live action Disney adaptations, there are no shortage of titles to be excited about. Newcomer Mena Massoud will play Aladdin, and Power Rangers Naomi Scott will round out the cast as Princess Jasmine. Using similar techniques to those employed in Favreau's live-action THE JUNGLE BOOK, the animals in the upcoming LION KING remake looked incredibly life-like, yet also displayed very human characteristics.
