Gareth Bale "happy playing in Madrid"

Former Spain and Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes says Cristiano Ronaldo is happy and does not want to leave Los Blancos.

The 32-year-old has been the subject of intense speculation this summer, with many reports linking him with a move back to former club Manchester United. "I don't watch a lot of football but I know that he's a good player and if he comes it's because he's had a great season and hopefully he can help the team".

Gareth Bale said he never considered leaving Real Madrid and the Welshman is ready to fight for his position at the Spanish and European champions. Maybe I should have recovered for longer and not tried to force it, but now there is no pain.

"For him it is important to be healthy and I hope we can see the best Gareth this year".

"To be honest, six weeks before the final I worked hard to get fit, and to be on the bench was rewarding because I hadn't done that work to not be there at all".

"Obviously I'm a British player and I'm always linked with a return home". The same thing happened with David Beckham and other Englishmen who came to Spain.

The United boss said the club would be wasting their time trying to sign Ronaldo from Real Madrid, claiming it would be "mission impossible". Nothing new. I am happy playing in Madrid, logically interest is interest, but if there has been nothing concrete, no offer, there is nothing to discuss'.

"It was bad luck, you can not avoid these injuries in football, when you knock your ankle". "I have no clue about what's going to happen".

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho has admitted it is a "shame" Manchester United did not sign Alvaro Morata. We have done well [together], won trophies, so we don't need to change anything.

When pressed on whether he expects Ronaldo to stay, he added: "Well, you'll have to ask him".
