Wicklow man steals show at Wimbledon

Kim Clijster Farewell Show

Instead of taking his advice, Clijsters invited the hecker, who was later identified as Chris Quinn, to face her. One such incident took place during the ladies invitational doubles competition at Wimbledon 2017 on Friday.

Belgian Clijsters grabbed him from the stands and beckoned him down to the court at SW19 to see if he could do better.

The said spectator was given a chance to try to return a serve from four-time Grand Slam champion Kim Clijsters. But it wasn't as simple as that, thanks to the tournament's strict dress code; women's players are required to dress entirely in white, while Quinn was dressed in a pair of blue shorts and a bright green t-shirt.

The scenes that followed were brilliant as Quinn made his way onto the court and squeezed into one of Clijsters' spare skirts.

Warming to Clijsters' good-humoured ploy, opponents Conchita Martine and Andrea Jaeger welcomed the man - Chris Quinn, a father-of-three from Ireland - to join their team, drawing cheers from the crowd.

She brought over a skirt from her bag and they were also able to get him a white shirt.

He posed with the players later for photographs as the court roared in laughter. "They're not going to get over the knees!"

Unable to do so, Clijsters rolled on the grass court laughing while the man jostled up the white skirt upto his waist, donned a white jacket and got Wimbledon-ready to tackle Clijsters serve.

Clijsters and Australian partner Rennae Stubbs went on to win the match 6-2 7-5.
