The Biggest Fighting Tournament of the Year is this Weekend, Evo 2017

Super Smash available for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.

Announced Thursday, a new segment will be coming to the network called D|XP, which will include gaming and esports related content in the future.

According to a Tweet by D|XP, the gaming-centric programming block on the Disney XD channel, the Smash 4 finals at EVO will be broadcast live at 6 p.m. Sunday on Disney XD.

Disney XD will air the finals of Evo's Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament live. Melee, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, King of Fighters XIV, Injustice 2, Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2, and BlazBlue: Central Fiction.

This is the first time we'll be seeing EVO aired on Disney XD, however, not the first time competitive fighters have made it to TV. Perhaps it's the higher entry fee or the backlash that the game has received from fans over the new season of the game, but it should still be an exciting finals nonetheless, as Street Fighter sees the most worldwide competition out of all the games.

ESPN will also stream a $75,000 Rocket League tournament at X Games Minneapolis this weekend.

Nine official Twitch channels will broadcast the rest of the Evo 2017 games. Looking at the Disney XD schedule, we also see that Street Fighter 5 will be rebroadcast the following Monday morning. You can catch the finals of Street Fighter 5 on ESPN 2 and ESPN app on Sunday, July 16 at 10 p.m. ET.

"Fighting games bring a tremendous level of hype and excitement, and Evo's mission is to share that experience with fans worldwide", Joey Cueller, president of Evo, said in a statment.
