Ezekiel Elliott Reportedly Faces 'Short' Suspension in Domestic Violence Probe

Keep in mind the Dallas Cowboys open with the New York Giants and then the Denver Broncos.

Still waiting: Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott still hasn't gotten a decision from the National Football League on whether he'll be punished for a 2015 domestic violence accusation.

ESPN quoted a source as saying: "The NFL is looking to pin something on him".

Elliott, Schefter added, is "bracing" for some kind of punishment. He received a report from the NFL on the findings of their investigation and is preparing a response to the league.

Ezekiel Elliott is one of the top running backs in the league, there is no way of getting around that.

Drafted fourth overall out of Ohio State in 2016, Elliott has maintained no wrongdoing in statements to police.

Not all books are in agreement with how much Elliott is worth to the Cowboys' pointspread.

Columbus, Ohio prosecutors opted not to bring charges against the running back related to that matter. However, the National Football League has been conducting a separate investigation, which is close to finished. A two-game ban is a much lighter sentence than Elliott would have faced if he had actually been charged with the crime, as the minimum sentence for first time offenders of the NFL's domestic violence policy is six games.

As you may recall, Elliott was connected to a domestic violence incident that occurred in 2016.

There were four people that were considered to be witnesses, but they have stated that they didn't see an assault take place that time, so the star running back was released off all the charges because of the "conflicting and inconsistent information" according to ESPN.com's Jean-Jacques Taylor.

High-ranking #Cowboys source says that Ezekiel Elliott has messages saved on his phone proving his ex-girlfriend is trying to set him up. He said he wanted closure and would rather that it not be dragged out so long.

Elliott has been under investigation by the league since July of previous year after his ex-girlfriend accused him of domestic violence.
