Beyonce Tops Money Makers 2016 List

Beyonce made the bulk of her annual wealth from her "Formation World Tour", in support of her hit Lemonade album.

It's not much of a surprise given her massive popularity and fan base, but the numbers are still astonishing as Queen B earned over $20 million more than the second act on the list Guns N Roses.

Guns N' Roses landed at #2 on the tally after bringing in $42.3 million, thanks mainly to the hard rockers' Not in This Lifetime Tour, featuring the return of founding members Slash and Duff McKagan. And so it goes for the majority of acts on our list: If you wanna be one of the biggest breadwinners in the music industry, you gotta do it on the road.

Beyonce reigns supreme on Billboard's list for top earning artists in 2016, raking in $62.1 million past year, largely thanks to her blockbuster Formation World Tour. Drake comes in at number four, with earnings of $37.3 million. But what really pops about Drake's totals is his streaming tally, driven by the omnipresence of his Views LP: The first artist in Spotify's 10 billion stream club trounced the competition previous year with a combined 6.8 billion on-demand audio and video streams in 2016. Adele's tour in 2016 was the fourth-highest grossing, moving 2.2 million albums in the United States alone more than any artist alone- except Prince.

Kanye West finds himself rounding out the Top 10 of the Money Makers list at the No. 9 seed. Twelfth on the list is Rihanna, who earned $22 million in 2016, followed by Future who made $17 million. Check out the full Top 50 Money Makers List here.
