Arsene Wenger on Arsenal's interest in Kylian Mbappe

Wenger allegedly spoke to Mbappe about Arsenal's plans for the future and why London would be the perfect place for him to develop his career and potentially emulate the impact made by Thierry Henry.

Reports in Spain claimed Arsenal had made a world-record bid of £123million for Mbappe, but Wenger has denied it.

Wenger, however, was quick to point out that was not the case following their 3-1 victory over Western Sydney Wanderers at ANZ Stadium in Sydney.

The 18-year-old's future in the principality has been the subject of intense scrutiny during the off-season, with a few top European clubs expressing an interest. It looks like he will stay at Monaco [for one season].

Arsenal had reportedly made a £123m bid for Kylian Mbappe. "I think he will stay, it looks like that, for one more season".

United's opponents when they kick-off their pre-season tour on Saturday - have long been linked with a move for the well-travelled forward, with a £6million-a-year deal reported to be on the table. What we know now is that Mbappe is over £100m and after that it's free to imagine what you want'.

Whilst at the very end of the video below, Wenger confirms that Alex Oxlade Chamberlain will "100 per cent" remain at Arsenal.

"Hundred percent I expect him to stay", he said.

'There's a lot of speculation, ' Wenger added.

Part of the reason for the struggles is the roster Arena selected, featuring almost entirely fringe players, with Arena admitting he is using the early stages of this competition to evaluate the player pool.
