Trump lawyer defends his use of social media

In a manner that would probably please his boss, Sekulow twice made mention of television ratings when comparing the reach of a cable network with President Trump's reach on social media. "Witch Hunt." It was the first time Trump had publicly acknowledged that he's under investigation.

"There's a limitation on Twitter, as we all know", Mr. Sekulow said on CNN.

Conway on Monday told Fox & Friends that nobody has told Trump that he's under investigation, and instead, Trump's tweet last week was a response to "a Washington Post report that included five anonymous sources". Sekulow said he was actually discussing the "legal theory of how the Constitution works" and that Wallace had rephrased his talking points.

While you were out doing something better than watching the soul-sucking Sunday shows (and quite literally, anything is better), Donald Trump's lawyer was making the rounds-seemingly ensuring that we all get the impression that the competence of Donald Trump's legal defense matches that of Donald Trump.

"No Chris, I said that the inve-any...let me be crystal clear so you completely understand". "No, he's not being investigated!".

The Trump team's style makes for a study in contrasts when compared to the seasoned group of prosecutors and criminal law experts working under Robert Mueller, the tight-lipped, respected ex-FBI director. President Trump requested he write up the letter to support the decision to fire Mr. Comey.

A simple tweet from President Donald Trump is keeping the Russian Federation investigation in the headlines. Rumors have run rampant about such an investigation after James Comey was sacked from his post very suddenly, leading to dramatic series of events which included Comey's testimony. The denial comes days after Trump appeared to confirm he is being investigated, sending a tweet complaining that he is the target of a "witch hunt". "The FBI's going to do their job".

"It's surprising that Robert Mueller went to these attorneys. #MAGA." Trump said in a tweet last week that signified an attempt to undermine both men.

Other supporters of the president took to the Sunday shows to defend the intentions behind his tweet.

"It will be in the history books", Sekulow said. "This is not taking up the president of the United States's day".

At some point, Mueller may wish to interview Federal Bureau of Investigation senior leadership about their meetings with Comey regarding Trump, though it's unclear if this has already taken place.

Should Rosenstein decide to recuse himself, Associate Attorney General Rachel Brand would take over for him as far as having authority over the special counsel, whether it continues to be Mueller or not. Asked about the possibility that an investigation has developed and the president just doesn't know, Sekulow says, "I can't read people's minds". Angus King, an independent from ME, stressed that the probe will likely last for a long time. He said it could be done "maybe by the end of the year".

Is the president being investigated?

The bipartisan measure, approved 98-2, now awaits action by the House. Cuomo countered. "It's not like this White House is averse to making any kind of inquiries about the Russian Federation probe".
